Amelia Martinez, Armida Saenz, & Eleuterio Pino
I call this set of small pieces "scrambled eggs" because they are all 2.5" tall x 2" wide and come in all the combinations that Mata Ortiz potters produce!
Amelia has fashioned an egg, coated it in graphite, and then painted it. Frankly, I don't know how they do it but when this pot is not exposed to light, the paint appears to be gray. When you put it under light, the gray turns to green!
Armida uses black and red on her pot to make the little squares.
Last, but not least, is Eleuterio's white pot. He painted the top red. Then he painted green cacti in the foreground and background. Next step is to carve the white to reveal the green cacti shapes and 3 roadrunners gleefully dancing around the pot with their black eyes.
How can you even resist? So cute.
The price is for the set.
